Grandma's Spoons Social Club Minutes

1st March

Meeting opened by Edith. Members sang Happy Birthday to Mrs. Smythe (who at 93 is the oldest club member), and then gave her a round of applause. Mrs. Overy provided tea and biscuits before the bingo. Line winner was Mr. Lumb, and lucky Mrs. McMahon won the full house for the eighth time in a row - nobody won the snowball. The raffle prize of a salad spinner was donated by Mrs. Clegg, and won by Mr. Spooner. Thanks go to Mrs. Grundy and Mrs. Tattersall for washing up. Mr. Wirrall fell asleep in his chair.

7th March

Meeting opened by Edith. Members didn't sing Happy Birthday to Mr. McMahon (who turned 89 last Tuesday, as lucky Mrs. McMahon had died the day before), and then gave a minute's silence. Mrs. Grundy provided tea and scones before the bingo. Line winner was Mrs. Smythe, and Mr. Clegg won the full house - nobody won the snowball. The raffle prize of a salad spinner was donated by Mr. Spooner and won by Mrs. Clegg. Thanks go to Mrs. Lumb and Mrs. Overy for washing up. Mr. Wirrall dropped crumbs in his chair.

14th March

Meeting opened by Edith. Members sang Welcome Home to Mr. Slattock (who had returned from a week in Bispham), and then gave him three cheers. Mrs. Smythe provided tea and buns before the bingo. Line winner was Mrs. Overy, and Mrs. Lumb won the full house - nobody won the snowball. The raffle prize of a tea cosy was donated by Mrs. Clegg, and won by Mr. Spooner. Thanks go to Mrs. Grundy and Mrs. Tattersall for washing up. Mr. Wirrall broke wind in his chair.

21st March

Meeting opened by Edith. Members sang Summer Holiday to Mrs. Overy (who suggested a day trip to the Fleetwood Fish Market), and then gave up sherry trifle for Lent. Mrs. Tattersall provided tea and maltloaf before the bingo. Line winner was Mrs. Grundy, and Mr. Slattock won the full house - nobody won the snowball. The raffle prize of a tea cosy was donated by Mr Spooner, and won by Mrs. Clegg. Thanks go to Mrs. Lumb and Mrs. Overy for washing up. Mr. Wirrall had an accident in his chair.

28th March

Meeting opened by Edith. Members sang When I'm 64 to Mrs. Grundy (who accompanied on the piano), and then gave up the will to live. Mrs. Clegg provided tea and bourbon creams before the bingo. Line winner was Mr. Slattock, and Mrs. Smythe won the full house - nobody understands the snowball. The raffle prize of a doily set was donated by Mrs. Clegg, but all the tickets were lost by Mr Spooner. Thanks go to Mrs. Grundy and Mrs. Tattersall for washing up. Mr. Wirrall had a mild stroke in his chair.
